JOB PURPOSE:
Performs duties to assist the pharmacist in the procurement, distribution, documentation, and compounding related to drugs, solutions, and equipment to meet the needs of patients and staff. Responsible for being familiar with dosages and volumes of medications and solutions associated with infant, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients as it relates to medication compounding and dispensing. Functions in accordance with standard written procedures, guidelines, and state and federal regulations. Responsible as assigned for the admixtures of medications to IV solutions including but not limited to the preparation of unit dose syringes, chemotherapy medications, and compounding of solutions/medications used in the critical care and OR satellite areas. Maintains adequate stock levels in assigned areas. Provides drug information and patient education (under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist). Completes assigned projects that may include staff education and clinical data collection and analysis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Fills medication labels and ADM reports accurately
2. Makes medication rounds in a timely manner as assigned
3. Accurately fills and replaces floor stock drugs and pharmacy supplies from requisitions and/or dispensing machine restock lists
4. Correctly and neatly repackages bulk medications into unit dose containers.
5. Assists the pharmacy purchasing agent in maintaining adequate drug supplies by reporting low stock levels in a timely manner
6. Compounds sterile preparations as assigned
7. Compounds hazardous drugs as assigned
8. Provides oversight of projects as assigned by department leadership
9. Works with pharmacy and hospital staff to identify, gather, analyze, and document business requirements and best practice as assigned.
10. Providing drug information (under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist)
11. Provide patient education (under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist)
12. Provide educational sessions for pharmacy, nursing, and medical staffs.
13. Monitors patient medication therapy (under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist)

Skill and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in-writing.
Skill and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
Ability to work as a member of a team.
Skill and ability to organize workflow and prioritize performance of job duties
Basic math ability and proficiency with typing and computer skills
Skill and ability in pharmacy automation and dispensing technology
Knowledge of current DNV standards

Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Enrollment in, or acceptance to, an accredited school or college of pharmacy.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Experience as a pharmacy technician preferred, but not required.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Registration with the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy as an Intern or Pharmacy Technician.
