Description

RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Clinical Resource Nurse ensures quality patient care is provided. He/ She is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care. He/ She functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. Performs in a charge or staff nurse role providing direct patient care as needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Duties include coordination of surgical staff to meet the needs of the schedule, surgeons, patients and staff.
2. Assure quality patient care, by anticipating the future needs of the service(s) and arranging for the needs to be met; i.e., equipment, supplies etc.
3. Provide professional nursing care to surgical patients utilizing the nursing process.
4. Collaborate with other members of the surgical team including physicians to deliver quality health care.
5. Serves as Room Turnover Assistant, as necessary.
6. Performs patient assessments to include collection of data regarding the patient’s physical, psychosocial and health history.
7. Organizes patient data into the formulation of a plan of care; identifies additional information needed and makes care decisions based on identified needs. Identifies expected patient outcomes.
8. Develop and maintain positive work relations with internal and external customers.
9. Carries out plan of care to achieve desired patient outcomes.
10. Provides patient care that is specific to the setting, identified needs and plan; ensures that the care provided is appropriate to the severity of the disease, condition, impairment or disability.
11. Oversees activities of ancillary and support team members.
12. Identifies teaching opportunities and provides the resources necessary for achieving the educational goals of the patients.
13. Communications issues/concerns to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager and/or physician as appropriate.
14. Documents patient care and concerns in the patient record.


Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate from school of nursing.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Three years’ of Operating Room experience.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. BLS certification required.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
BLS Certification Required.
