Description

JOB PURPOSE:
Cardiac Device Specialist responsible for providing technical and clinical services in the Electrophysiology ambulatory (outpatient) setting. CDS will perform Cardiac Implantable Electronic Device (CIED) interrogations, with arrhythmia interpretation of ECG, measured data, evaluation of arrhythmia burden, interpretation of diagnostics, and programming of cardiac device, reporting to an EP Provider. Will also be responsible for managing patient’s diagnostics in manufacturer remote monitoring websites, analysis and management of transmission, entering data in the electronic medical record (EMR), maintaining the data integrity with the system, and having the judgment to direct to the EP Providers, when appropriate.
Support for CIED management will be under the direction of supervising EP provider, Lead Cardiac Device Specialist and/or EP Manager.

Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
A certificate of completion from an approved cardiac device technical school that provides a formal curriculum of education and training in cardiac pacing, defibrillation, cardiac resynchronization therapy and electrophysiology OR a minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of cardiac pacing or electrophysiology in the ambulatory (outpatient) setting may be substituted for the formal education training program.


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
One (1) year of EP clinical experience as a Cardiac Device Specialist.


MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
None.


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Clinical Device Specialist (CCDS) through Heart Rhythm Society within 24 months of hire strongly preferred.
Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) certification by International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) preferred.
Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) preferred.
