Description

JOB PURPOSE:
Driving a designated route each day and picking up and delivering supplies and materials. Ensuring the secure transport and delivery of the correct goods to the correct customer within the requested timelines. Performing a variety of delivery duties utilizing a delivery vehicle as necessary to ensure the proper distribution of materials and supplies. The safe and efficient operation and routine maintenance of the delivery vehicle. Regularly sustained periods of communication via two- way, citizens band (CB) radio or cell phone.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Prepares and coordinates stock replenishment order.
2. Delivers to specific destinations, departments, or persons.
3. Maintains and safely operates assigned vehicle per DMVR operating procedures and work methods.
4. Operates forklifts, electric pull trucks, and other equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
5. Reports and investigates delivery discrepancies.
6. Performs miscellaneous duties for warehouse and hospital functions as assigned.

Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Two years of progressively responsible experience in warehousing and delivery duties.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
None.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to perform routine clerical record keeping and filing; make basic arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately; understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Appropriate valid Georgia driver’s license for vehicle(s) driven. Demonstrated record of safe driving. Provide a 7-year motor vehicle report (MVR) that indicates employee has had a clear driving record for the past 3 years to date. Knowledge of local geographical area. Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances and rules involved in motor vehicle operation. Knowledge of principles and practices of safe motor vehicle operation and maintenance.
