III. QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
High School Diploma /GED required
Completion of an approved nurse aide training program
CERTIFICATION
Registered with the Nurse Aide Registry (NAR).
EXPERIENCE
Within last 4 years, experience in clinical setting; Long-term care preferred; obtains/maintains CPR skills.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to read, write and perform simple arithmetic calculations; able to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic knowledge of growth and development relevant to the ages of the residents served.
Basic knowledge of the diseases and health care needs of the resident population served.
Ability to think critically and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities in resident care.
High level of interpersonal skills in order to interact effectively as a team member on a team with varying levels of health care workers.
Problem solving skills sufficient to allow effective problem/conflict resolution.
Demonstrated traits of initiative and dependability required.
Ability to perform efficiently and effectively under stress.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES
Able to:
Stand for long periods, 6-8 hours
Sit for extended periods of time
Bend and stoop
Walk for long periods
Lift and position of residents, not to exceed 40 lbs.
Heavy equipment/supplies up to 40 lbs. (will transport residents, supplies and equipment)
Sensory: Sight to observe residents symptoms
Auditory to hear residents, measure Blood Pressure, alarms
Tactile to feel residents symptoms (warmth, induration)
Olfactory to smell disease-specific smell, safety hazards.

IV. WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in a resident care 100% of time, where there exist a potential for exposure to unpleasant odors and communicable disease. May be required to work various shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime hours.
