Mental Health Therapist - Behavioral Health - Full Time Days - Piedmont Eastside

Addictive Disease/Recovery Therapist

*Schedule is 40 hours a week. Must be able to work some weekends.

JOB PURPOSE:
Provide Psychiatric and/or Chemical Dependency counseling services to the patients admitted to Piedmont Behavioral Health units.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides individual, group, and marital/ family therapy/ counseling in a variety of psychiatric settings.
2. Performs Psychosocial Assessments.
3. Provides treatment planning.
4. Provides discharge planning including linkage to community resources, referral sources and post discharge care providers.
5. Provides referrals for extended treatment or outpatient follow up.
6. Conducts psychoeducational groups and classes for patients and families.
7. Functions as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
8. Makes Post Discharge Wellness Check Calls on discharged patients.
9. Ensures and maintains confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
10. Maintains appropriate professional boundaries.
11. Possesses excellent writing and verbal skills.
12. Is knowledgeable of and follows all policies in daily job performance.
13. Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the delivered.
14. Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements.
15. Regular, punctual and dependable attendance.
16. Practices, develops and endorses customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.
17. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
• Ability to listen, empathize and respond to patient, family, internal and external partners needs.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good working knowledge of community resources for psychiatry, psychotherapy, and mutual support groups in local and surrounding area.
• Ability to perform as a team member on a multi-disciplinary treatment team of physicians, nurses, activities therapists and technicians.


POPULATION SERVED:
Adults of all ages with mental health and/or chemical dependency needs.

Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Master’s degree required.


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Two (2) years of experience in a clinical setting, either inpatient or outpatient/partial hospital setting addressing both psychiatric and chemical dependency issues with clients.
Experience to include two (2) years of supervised experience in psychiatric setting or addictive disease treatment setting, or three (3) years of continuous active recovery in twelve step program.


MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Professional certification and/or licensure as LCSW/LMSW; LMFT/LAMFT; LPC/LAPC. Full license preferred.


ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.
CPI certification within the first 90 days of employment required.
Strong communication skills in both oral and written format.
Flexibility to intervene on a moment’s notice.
Ability to problem-solve and seek assistance from team members when necessary.
Knowledgeable in innovative therapeutic interventions for the population served.
