JOB PURPOSE: The Procedure Support Tech I performs patient and non-patient functions under the direction of the Registered Professional Nurse. This job is responsible for performing a range of self-directed support activities that contribute to the overall efficiency of the perioperative area(s). Work involves inventorying, disassembling, cleaning, reassembling, maintaining operating room equipment, positioning patients, and patient preparation for procedure. If needed assists with case cart preparation.
Assists in maintaining a clean, sanitary, orderly procedural environment, and transports patients as required. To function as an integral member of the operating room team and contribute to maintaining a safe, professional, respectful and effective patient care environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Demonstrates advanced knowledge and proficient practice in the support technician role.
2. Ensures the availability and preparedness of OR rooms, supplies, equipment and instruments.
3. Maintains an environment that consistently meets all safety, infection control and quality parameters.
4. Functions in partnership with licensed staff.
5. Performs patient care duties for clients of various age groups under the direction of a registered nurse.
6. Performs clipping of patients as needed for surgical procedures.
7. Performs positioning techniques to ensure safety of patients.
8. Assists in transporting patients and equipment as needed.
9. Assists with case cart preparation under the direction of a registered nurse or surgical technologist.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High School Graduate or equivalent.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
AHS BLS Certification.
