Job Description:

Monitor and validate hospital soft coded/abstracted information for specific hospital patient types, and

provide education and/or training to Piedmont Healthcare (PHC) coding staff on identified improvement

areas. Serve in an educator capacity role for the Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) staff as it

relates to documentation, coding, and regulatory compliance. Support Coding Quality Education (CQE)

and Coding Leadership by monitoring and updating all operational PHC hospital coding policies to

optimize the quality and accuracy of the coding services provided by PHC hospital coding staff.


Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Five (5) years of experience in an acute care setting with auditing and/or coding management experience.

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:

None.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC-H, CCS-P, CIRCC, CPC, and/or AHIMA approved ICD-10 trainer.

ICD 10 approved trainer through AHIMA preferred.

CCS-P credential in addition to one of the other credentials mentioned above is also preferred.

Strong knowledge base in: completion and accurate clinical documentation in all healthcare settings; all

healthcare disciplines; conventions, rules, and guidelines for multiple classifications.

Remain current with AHA Coding Clinics, CPT Assistant, CMS guidelines.

Experience with evaluation and management (E&M) level assignment preferred.
