Description

JOB PURPOSE:
Leads a team of process and clinical improvement professionals to drive improvements through a portfolio of strategic projects. Promotes a culture of continuous improvement through the use of Lean methodology data analysis, reliability, sustainability and spread. Translates clinical, operational, quality and safety data into meaningful information and clearly communicates critical information to leadership and other stakeholders to improve performance and decision making. Provides high quality project management and analysis for a broad array of clinical and operational issues. Applies health system-specific expertise, industry best practices and knowledge of internal and external performance challenges to recommend improvements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Directs and prioritizes the activities of the process and clinical improvement professionals leading and facilitating system, ambulatory and hospital wide strategic operational, quality, safety and efficiency improvement projects.
2. Develops and coaches process and clinical improvement professionals in lean and performance improvement implementation strategies in support of the strategic goals.
3. Collaborates with quality and safety team members, physician enterprise leaders, local clinical and medical staffs and local administrative leadership.
4. Implements individual coaching and development plans for the improvement professionals to sufficiently address the skills required to support improvement initiative Monitors and tracks results.
5. Leverages complex decision support/data systems to establish operation and quality related metrics to measure progress and sustainability of improvement efforts/initiatives.
6. Ensures seamless hand-off of completed improvement initiatives between improvement professionals and operations.
7. Implements special initiatives to support other strategic improvement initiatives of Piedmont Healthcare, as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
• Knowledge of complex statistics, data analysis, workflow charting and other analysis techniques.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to develop effective relationships with a broad variety of people from diverse backgrounds.
• Skill and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work as a member of a team.
• Skill in mentoring and developing other people.
• Demonstrated proficiency with the following computer application Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio, database application and analytical tools such as Tableau.


Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in Business/Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or a closely related field is required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience involving performance/operations improvement, project management and/or analysis, to include three (3) years of leadership experience. Exceptional organizational skills required.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
If an RN, current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree preferred.
Certification in Lean Six Sigma or Piedmont QPI Black Belt strongly preferred.
Superior written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present ideas in a clear and compelling manner to both executive and staff level audiences.
Ability to discern the sensitivity of information and materials in order to preserve confidentiality is required. Superior written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present ideas in a clear and compelling manner are requested.
Experience with Tableau, Epic, EPSI or other clinical/financial reporting database preferred.
